Vector Ltd under new council

Postby Bongo666 » 07 Jun 2009 00:08

I am wondering how safe the council holding in Vector will last under a more business friendly unified Auckland Council?

Postby Bongo666 » 18 Jun 2009 21:09

Vector's Reply to Bruce Sheppard's letter over debt levels at Vector. Vector has borrowed at least NZ$150 million since the June 2008 date of Bruce's analysis ends.

I bought 5300 at just under $1.99 in September 09. This is taking into account the brokerage fee, something I always keep on the back of my mind. Asb's something rather put the intrinsic value at $2.05 and recently this has been scraping $2.07 mark at times this Friday (12/03/10). Time to sell ? The funds will arrive in my trading account around five days later, and I can use this, along with my savings to either re-enter VCT if it dips, or Freightways, AIA or my bet on PGW.
Thoughts & comments ?
This is a course of action for Monday 15th March, and if VCT shares drop below $2.04, I'll not go through this.

If you are going to ditch it - and I don't know why you would given you would make very little off it - you would be best to wait until closer to the 31 March dividend record date (a 6.5 c DIV) to see if the stock rises before selling.

I would pocket the div if it was me and hang on for a rise, it will eventually.

Thanks . . . you may have dropped the feather that tilted my swing.

A bit off-topic, but what really or maybe just another factor that held me back from this course of action was the brokerage fee. I mean:

$30 to sell it off
$30 to buy alt shares
$30 to sell these alt shares
$30 to rebuy VCT.

That's $120 definite expenses all up from this transaction . . . not to mention that un-certainty risk/expense.

Feel free to comment on this, I'd love to learn how you perceive this miser.

Basic maths really mate.

You need to be dealing in bigger numbers to make quick trades work out for you.

Anyone have any idea why the share price for VCT has reached about $2.10 ? Sorry, but I am thumping my head most irrationally against a brick wall trying to figure this out - most I can make is that some TEL shareholders are putting their funds elsewhere, and that includes VCT.
