Anyone considering buying more Warehouse shares given the announcement yesterday that the Court of appeal has upheld the Commerce Commissions appeal that the company shouldn't be sold to either Woolworths or Foodstuffs?

I think it will go to the Supreme Court and possibly to a judicial review of that court's decision. It has been done before between Woolworths and Foodstuffs.

There are about 10 days to go before the deadline for Woolworths or Foodstuffs to make an appeal to the Supreme Court regarding the decision made against them to allow them to make a bid for The Warehouse, in The Court of Appeal earlier last month.

What do punters out there think, will the Appeal go ahead or not?

A decision by any one of the 3 parties involved in The Warehouse takeover saga must be due soon?

It seems to me in the absence of news to the contrary that the possibility of a takeover of The Warehouse by either Foodstuffs or Woollies OZ must be still on.

We would have heard an announcement otherwise. Thinking of getting more shares

This company is still on the block even though none of the participants have been candid about the takeover process that appears in limbo. Nobody has made a pre-emptive mood or discussed dropping a bid.

MELBOURNE, July 22 (Reuters) - Woolworths Ltd (WOW.AX), Australia's biggest retailer, stood by its full-year profit growth forecast on Wednesday after its sales growth met its expectations.

"There's no concerns about our guidance for the year," Chief Executive Michael Luscombe told analysts. He said investors should not read anything into the fact that the company had not mentioned its full-year outlook for net profit after tax growth of 11-14 percent on a 52 week comparative basis in its Wednesday sales announcement (see [ID:nSYD507732]). Interesting to see The Warehouse making a move in the retail market to plug the gap with smaller stores that they don't fill with larger ones. Small towns and areas of big cities will get these and they should do well.

Retailer The Warehouse has opened the first of its smaller format stores, with plans to roll out about 15 in coming years.

The company said the first of its The Warehouse Local stores was opened in Mosgiel, near Dunedin, and the company now had 86 stores nationwide.

Research carried out with 600 Mosgiel residents determined the range and choice of products in the first local store, The Warehouse said today.

It had employed Dunedin locals to fill three of the six store management and supervisor roles in the Mosgiel store, and all of the 22 service staff from the small community.

Mosgiel resident and Dunedin deputy mayor Syd Brown said The Warehouse's presence offered new and welcome employment opportunities to a community hard hit by recent set-backs.

It will be interesting to see whether the north of $7 price per share will be offered when either one of the bidders makes a decision to have a go.

I have taken a short term punt on this, unlike Bongo666 who appears to be in love with the company, I prefer a one night stand

It will be interesting to see The Warehouse FY out this Friday. Indications of future performance will be central to share price recovery in the short term and issues over ownership could be broached again.

From the share price stability over the last week it looks like their will be no surprises come profit announcement tomorrow.

A smaller dividend this time around would be sensible and a cut in staff numbers considering there are less sales should be on the cards.

Well, a higher dividend instead of a cut. Reason?

Much better cash flow. Not good for long term. Would have preferred a bigger debt payoff but since I have 15000 a good payday nonetheless.

The first step In Woolworths OZ re branding of their NZ supermarket offer has begun with one brand instead of 3. That, in my humble opinion, is a step towards them making a bid for The Warehouse. Makes sense to have two strong brands in their retail footprint. One food offering and one general retail - both targeted at the budget end of the market.

Interesting the rise in The Warehouse stock price over the last few weeks (See Chart) not quite sure about why but one could imagine all sorts of things
